And that’s a wrap for my first vending event!

Got to spend yesterday out in Doylestown PA at Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine for @theabbeyfest !

Was very neat to talk to the other vendors (like @simplesmilecreations , @beads.of.grace33 who came all the way up from the Diocese of Arlington, and I got to meet @prayerwinechocolate too!) , spend the day with my cousin, run into people I know, and get to talk about the saints with some great people. My table neighbors were @lifegiving.wounds who is coming up to the Philadelphia area soon and the other was @musicangels.inc that visits Hospice Centers or other places in need to bring music to them and they gave out cookies to anyone brave enough to sing.

Was fun to see that people recognized Fr. McLaughlin on one of my cards and get to talk about him with other people who loved him as well and whose lives were touched by him (was also pretty cool that things with artwork of him was one of my, if not the most popular item I sold). Also pretty cool to have a card of him since his order of the Norbertines and Daylesford Abbey was where AbbeyFest (hence the name lol) used to be hosted at until last year so was neat to bring some of the roots of this event to this year as well by having a prayer card of one of the Norbertines there!

My next in person event is gonna be at @daylesfordabbey for their Art Show in October! After that, this November I will be at The Well Young Adult Conference in Philadelphia through @phillyomya !

Blocks drawn for five upcoming prints, three of these will be making an appearance in my mail club (link in bio, mail club is through the link to patreon). Now all that’s left is to carve and print them. What’s nice about this medium is that with the carving can clean up the sketch and “erase” any lines I don’t won’t or lighten the shading or add more details to the prints.

I got this last batch of prayer cards in for before AbbeyFest on the 19th! These are my new PrayerPal Prayer Cards that are 4”x6” and can be folded in half to make a small sized Prayer Card that is 4”x3”. The back of these cards is also a post card so you can send these to your “PrayerPal”.

First sketch I think was the best for looking like JPII
Last drawing I figured out I can actually blend the ink before (and a little after) it dries by using a white colored pencil, gave it a more three dimensional look

I might have to try my drawing pencils or charcoal next

Materials used: strathmore drawing sketched, alitte sketch pad, fabercastell polychromes white pencil (was probably in one of my past sketchbox boxes), a bic pen, a zebra pen

New Prayer Card Sizes! I switched printers for my cards and am excited to see how converting more of my prayer cards over to them end up looking! The 4”6” PrayerPal Cards have looked stunning and the photos I took do not do them@justice.

Once my current supply of small cards runs out I’ll be switching over to the new size of 2.16”x3.3” and plus with this size is that it should fit in a wallet! The Prayer Pal Prayer Cards I’ll start working on converting more of the designs over to that so keep an eye out on my Instagram, Etsy and Website for which Saints have cards available in this format! Currently my website and Etsy have the Padre Pio, St. Gianna, St. Raphael, St. Carlo, and St. Joan of Arc PrayerPal cards uploaded there.

My print club on Patreon I’ll be switching the large prayer card to be the PrayerPal Prayer Card and the Pope Leo Prayer Card of the month I’m still trying to figure out if will be the new small size card or have that also as the PrayerPal Card.

This order was for two large prayer cards, one of St. John Vianney and 1 of St. Joan of Arc. I like including two free small prayer cards in my orders and this one got a bunch of extras since I just ordered a lot test prints of prayer cards to figure out which printer I’m using for my future cards. PA art adventures loading!
So far, I will be at three in person events in Pennsylvania with my linocut prints :)

First is AbbeyFest, Saturday September 19th at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, PA. There will be music, other vendors, food, and Mass! I'll also be bringing a vending machine for some of my prayer cards and stickers too (do not worry about having quarters for it, i'll be selling the tokens for the machine!). Second is the Daylesford Abbey Art Show Friday through Sunday, October 2nd-4th out in Paoli, PA. There is an opening Champagne Reception on Friday Night as well and free admission. Last event (so far) is the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's Young Adult Conference: The Well, on Saturday, November 7th, in Philadelphia, PA. I'll be bringing my linocut prints and prayer cards to this too! The theme of the conference this year is: “Take courage! I have overcome the world” (John 16:35). This event you have to register for in advanced and is currently $45/person if you sign up before September 8th, or $60 at the door the day of the event. Last event (so far) is the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's Young Adult Conference: The Well, on Saturday, November 7th, in Philadelphia, PA. I'll be bringing my linocut prints and prayer cards to this too! The theme of the conference this year is: “Take courage! I have overcome the world” (John 16:35). This event you have to register for in advanced and is currently $45/person if you sign up before September 8th, or $60 at the door the day of the event. A Special New Linocut Print that was commissioned by my dad! He is a member of the Knights of Columbus at our Parish and thought having Artwork made of him could help spread Bl. Michael McGivney’s Cause for Canonization.

This print was made by carving two different 4”x6” @speedball_art speedy carve blocks. Print size comes to be approximately 7”x9” using @strathmoreart paper and ink from @speedball_art

These prayer cards are 4”x6” and can be folded in half to make the prayer card pocket sized to 3”x4”. They can also be sent in the mail as a postcard for those you are praying for and now more easily framed where you only have to purchase one instead of two cards.

Pack an INTERNATIONAL order with me!

My Etsy does ship to a limited number of international countries now! including: Australia, Canada, UK, Italy, France, and Poland. So far I have sent artwork to Australia and Canada and it’s pretty neat that my artwork is in three countries and two continents.

This order was purchased during my free small St. Max card promo on orders over $25, and since I have a feeling the order was a gift and as a thank you for it being a big order (and a repeat order!) I included a second free St. Max card. Since this is going over seas and I’m not quite sure when it will arrive I included two instead of one of my free Pope Leo monthly prayer intention cards. A bunch of extras too since this is my first repeat Etsy order AND my largest order on Etsy so far.

One of the things I enjoy about running my business is getting to celebrate “firsts” by including extras on my orders and how this artwork and cards is impacting others. Very grateful to have opened this business after getting back from the Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio canonization last year and seeing this business I think pretty much exist because of going on that pilgrimage.

A little behind the scenes of running this account!
This business is how I relax on my days off from my full time job, and one of the ways I’ve been creative lately has been making reels of my sketching. I like drawing and sketching in places where phone stands are not practical or would get in the way so the intermittent drawing progress updates has been a nice work around. I did get a drafting table though so hopefully once that is all set up it’ll be easier to make time lapse videos of my drawing.

Each day off is a little different for me of how I need to be creative that day. I also sew, knit, and crochet but lately (and since learning Linocuts) it’s mostly been linocut prints, my @getsketchbox subscription (which I love the limited palettes of how it forces you to be more creative in your thinking of using colors, and that I’m using materials I probably typically would not purchase and being pleasantly surprised when I find ones I really really like (my acrylic paint markers from last year and gouache set being the ones I really liked)) and colorwork knitting but lately less knitting.

Test prints of the prayer cards! The center cards are what I currently sell but playing around with different sizes and finishes of the cards. One more batch of test prints are in the works (and not pictured) where the in process cards will be 2.5”x4” which is probably closest to the current cards that are approximately 2.6”x3.9”. Cards on the left are 2.16”x3.3” and the test print cards on the right are 2.5”x3.5”. Each card is from a different printing business too to test the quality.

Thankfully all print size options will fit in the vending machine I bought to sell some of my prayer cards at in person events!

More Stained Glass Sketching, were you able to figure out what the depicted scene was of before the end?

This time the sketching was of stained glass from Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Cape May, NJ! This Church is also known as the church on the mall because it is on the Washington Street Mall in Cape May (if you like Hallmark, a couple Hallmark movies have used overhead images of the mall in their movies, I don’t remember though if the church was featured in that)

Materials used for this sketch were some of my new markers and 4”c7” sketch pad from @getsketchbo, a ballpoint pen from @bicpensusa , and a calligraphy brush pen from @speedball_art (that I think I purchased at staples last year before going to the canonization for Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati). One of my favorite/go to drawing tools is actually my bic pens, it’s actually what I sketch majority of my linocut blocks with before I carve them :)

This sketch was actually a bit of a warm up before I started sketching for a bigger project I’m working on that I guess can be viewed as a, or rather 6-7, commissioned pieces.

The second printer I’m test printing should be getting me my order probably in the next week too so will be neat to be able to compare the different prints and sizes to figure out how to move forwards for the future of these prayer cards.
