I was too excited to share these to wait for better lighting to takes photos of them! I just finished cutting the test prints of the prayer cards with my artwork on them. This is the matte finish (I didn’t think the gloss finish would photograph well tonight so I’ll have to be patient at least for sharing that haha).

There’s two size options (scroll through the carousel for comparison to one another and next to my knitting ruler). Will be adding these soon to my Etsy and website :)

Some Shop Updates :)

I updated my website! It looks nicer than before, you can see for yourself at www.sewfiamariedesigns.com . I am still selling my art on Etsy as well.

Prices were updated on my website and Etsy to better reflect the handcrafted nature of each of my linocut prints. Patreon Subscription pricing was not changed (the collectors tier on my Patreon is a pretty good deal since it’s $22.50 and that includes a Saint print, mini print, and a vinyl sticker. The print you recieve also may end up being a first edition so you’d be getting that at a discount if you’re one of the subscribers who gets a first edition print that month)

Upcoming/In The Works: prayer cards! Still figuring out how to make this happen but they have been brought up enough recently that I think it is an avenue worth exploring. Sizing of the cards to be determined (biggest the cards will be is 4”x6”) and prices tbd too. Keep me posted on which prints you would want to see as prayer cards sooner! I’m going to have to scan a lot of my artwork for it (my least favorite part since it involves both a scanner and computer, I suppose that’s why I gravitate to traditional and not digital art since I just find this part annoying) so hoping that some feedback will help make the task less daunting.

My most recent sketches since the last sketchbook post.

There’s some repeats from the sketches I did on the @phillyomya YAMDI retreat at @motherbonifaceretreats but some other new ones are there too. Around half of these sketches were drawn in chapels/churches which is pretty fitting for Lent. @peonynjune ‘s Valentine’s Day print also ended up in the first sketch

The making of a uniquely handcrafted linocut print ☺️

When I first started making linocut prints, I did use transfer paper for sketches and then applied them to the linoblocks, but I found that process frustrating and if I kept making them that way I likely would not have made as many as I have. Now I just use a referrance images/photos and draw/sketch directly onto the block before carving. My favorite blocks are the speedy-carve blocks from @speedball_art and I almost always use an @bicpensusa for the sketching (using a ballpoint pen also helps ensure that the lines are about the same size as my smallest gouge so I don’t have to worry about the carving not working).

My first attempt for this upcoming Blessed Charles of Austria didn’t go so well but the second one here I ended up happy enough with and am interested to see how it prints.

The carving phase (which pretty much turns the sketched block into a stamp) almost works as a second drawing of the sketch where I refine the image a bit more (and get rid of the sewing pattern drafting hash marks for things I want to remove in carving 😂 a useful hack for drawing with ink). When sketching on the block really doesn’t go as planned nail polish remover works as a great eraser for the ink sketches to redo it (I just flipped the block for this one when I didn’t like my first attempt).

After the blocks are carved I handprint each print with a printing press, and sometimes need a printing baron to get the ink to print correctly. I’ll have to include videos of that part of the printing process too but the drawing and carving part is where the prints really start to come to life :) I will have to figure out a way to Jerry rig my phone to show the printing with a printing press since my press is a little big (and my work area near the press is a mess 🙃) where a phone stand might not work the best to show how the prints are made by hand.

I added a new painting yesterday to my Christmas in Cape May Gouache Series 😊 It’s pretty neat to see how different the first three are that I painted in December versus my two most recent ones. Rest of the carousel has the work in progress photos of the newest painting.

I’m curious to see how many paintings I’ll have done before this upcoming December. I can’t wait to put all the prints together for a book for my little niece and nephew for when we go down to Cape May this winter. Lots of happy memories down there so it’s fun to keep the Christmas Vacation tradition continue as my family keeps growing with nieces and nephews and my siblings getting married.

The first three gouache paintings are available as prints on postcards and cards on Redbubble. Once I have a few more art pieces between this series and linocut prints I’ll upload some more to have available as cards etc…

I’m getting artwork juried later this week for an art show in the fall (have never had to submit art via jury before) so I put together an art portfolio (also had never done that before) and made actual business cards (instead of the hand printed and handwritten mini prints I had been using) and they turned out so good 😭

@canva is great if you need anything printed ever, both the portfolio and cards were printed through them

Last weekend I got to go on a retreat hosted by @phillyomya that was the “YAMDI Retreat: Restless Heart”, it incorporated St. Augustine into it (he has a quote that is “our heart is restless until it finds rest in thee”) and focused on the Prodigal Son story in the Gospel of Luke.

I brought a couple sketchbooks but the papers they gave us and the Bible my mom gifted me for my birthday last year also ended up with some drawings in it during different talks, I think right before Visio Divina (or prayer with art, similar to Lexio Divina), Adoration, and just quiet time between things. I had also made I think 15 mini linocut Saint prints the night before and only had three left by the end! I did run out of JP2 prints but thankfully I had artist trading cards I made last year that had JP2 on it too with me to share.

The Mother Boniface Spirituality Center (@motherbonifaceretreats ) where this was hosted had such a pretty chapel, especially in the morning when all the light was shining in. The chapel and the stained glass made it into quite a few of the sketches (amazing what gel highlighters and pen can accomplish for a few of the sketches!). It was neat while being in the chapel to see there was more yellow in the glass the closer it came to the tabernacle, and how there were lots of triangles or circles and things in sets of three in the glass that seemed to represent the Trinity. I think that’s what I like the most about drawing and sketching and making art in general, it slows you down to notice what is around you (an art of noticing if you will, even though that sounds like a pun and kinda corny) and I’m glad I got to capture some of these moments the way I did to look back on it all. Also very grateful for my sketchbooks and drawings too because they do come in handy as conversation starters when meeting new people.

One neat part too of that weekend was getting to meet someone I didn’t know who had ended up with artwork of mine and told me how she had it up in her office

If you’re a young adult near the archdiocese of Philly, I definitely recommend you go on this next year!

New materials from @getsketchbox :)

I need more practice with this set of gouache paints (and I think trying them with the brush I’m used to using for the other gouache set I have from them I think will help).

It doesn’t quite look like it, but this is of a winter snow scene wirh a bird I saw at my parents one morning probably after I had gotten off work. I’ve drawn this one before with paint markers from Sketchbox too (image three in the carousel). It’s interesting how different the same subject can look based on color palette and materials used. Reference photo included at the end. I didn’t like the acrylic paint markers at first but then started sketching with them so much I think I need to get a new set (I think my light blue is out of paint or near the end of it 😅) and I love how saturated the colors are in the sketches I used them for. Hopefully as I get more comfortable with gouache this set I’ll be pleasantly surprised by them too.

These are the pieces I’m submitting for an upcoming art jury for an art show I’m hoping to participate in this fall. Next on the to do list is figure out/put together a portfolio for it too.

The plan is to turn this into a picture book for my niece and nephew for when we go to Cape May this winter (if you cannot tell I am quiet obsessed with those two little humans and can’t wait for them to be big enough to make arts and crafts)

Redbubble does have postcard versions of the three previous prints I’ve made, at some point I’ll upload more images from this series too. They would make good Christmas cards but first let’s get through Lent and Easter :)

Sending out some art mail :)

Some Catholic Mail Insurance with the “St. Anthony Guide” on the bottom of each envelope 😂 and two exclamation points for the mail headed to Australia. I had not realized that my Etsy was set for shipping outside the USA (fixed it now) but if this goes well I might open it back up for international orders.

For anyone who is international, I do upload artwork onto Redbubble (sewfia.redbubble.com , link also in bio 😊) I know it’s not quiet the same as ordering my handmade linocut prints but it is at least a way to receive some of the art in postcard and sticker format (there’s a tshirt option I think on at least one of the listings too). There’s only a few countries Redbubble does not ship to.

The Saint Sebastian postcard is one I’ve been meaning to send to my brother from when I got the card in Rome in September after Carlo and Pier Giorgio’s canonization. Writing on the Saint Agnes postcard reminded me about the Saint Sebastian one since the statue was in the Chiesa Sant Agnes in Agone in Rome (hopefully I didn’t butcher the Italian spelling of that but I have a feeling I may have a little). Funnily enough the Saint Agnes linocut print, I drew it in the car ride down to meet my niece for the first time in December. I think Saint Agnes is looking out for her, and funny that Saint Sebastian is in her church in Rome since that’s my brother’s confirmation Saint. I will laugh if when she gets confirmed if she chooses Saint Agnes as her saint though I think Saint Agnes has already chosen her 😂

Going on a retreat tomorrow in my diocese, made some saint trading cards for it too in case art comes up (one of the priests I’ve given art to is gonna be there so there is a good chance it’ll come up at some point this weekend so at least now I am prepared! 😂)

I have been bad lately about keeping my sketchbook up to date! Here are some of my most recent sketches. The last sketch I made this morning with reference image of the flowers included to compare the two. I used some of @getsketchbox ‘ s newest paint markers that were included in the “monochromatic pastel premium box” and used them with one of the past paint marker sets that I had from one of their previous boxes for some of the more recent sketches. The @copic_official_us markers were also from a past illustration box that sketchbox had in the past too (the colors of the copic markers are yellowish shade, yellow ochre, and Tuscan orange and are really nice for sketches)

Also in the referrance image besides the flowers are one of @cordacandles lauds candle, A. Gallo’s box of watercolors (I need to be better about using them!), one of the boxes that has more of my Sketchbox art supplies in (the boxes are very convenient for bringing art supplies with me), a sketchbook that I keep my my linocut print test/inkpad prints in, another sketchbox that’s technically for watercolor but that I’ve been using for pen sketches and markers

I added one of my favorite prints I’ve made too to the shop, it’s of Irises. I made it a while back as a series of three floral prints (the first of the series was of blue flax flowers that I made for my friend during roughly a four or five hour long phone call we had from me drawing it to carving to printing it during the call, so I tried sticking with blue-ish flowers for the rest of the series and got this print of irises from that endeavor). I think the irises print turned out the best and it reminds me of my grandparents house from growing up since they had the prettiest purple irises that also had a little yellow in them too. Besides the nostalgia, it just ended up being a beautiful linocut print.

I mostly just carve the Saints/Blesseds etc… but I love flowers too so maybe I’ll add a few more to my linocut collection soon. If it is of interest let me know which flowers you’d want to see prints of :)

The making of a linocut print, the carving step of it :)

I make my linocut blocks a little different, I don’t transfer images onto it but instead just sketch/draw directly on the block and use the carving step to help refine it a bit more. I use my phone for reference images while sketching/drawing but at some point will post a time lapse of the drawing/sketching step of making these prints.

Different Saint/Blesseds/etc… linocut print each month based upon the month’s feast days that are taking place. The mini print relates to Pope Leo’s intention for the month and has his prayer intention printed on the back (is more of a prayer card and is the size of a trading card). Sticker included too of the main print. All items, except for the sticker, are handmade in the collectors tier.

PenPal tier is a postcard version of the main linocut print and sticker version as well. Items are not handmade in this tier. I think for next month I’m going to change the penpal tier for it to have the sicker be of the front image of the mini print.

Busy morning printing (mostly due to I didn’t want to waste ink but then kept pouring and mixing more ink to make more prints after printing the Saint Philomena mini prints for my mail club 🙃)

Printed the first side of the Saint Philomena Prints for the Snail Mail Club this morning! I think the Saint Philomena print looks pretty good with this month’s Saint Blaise print too! Spots still open for this month’s prints on my Patreon, link in bio to join :)

There were a few B grade prints made but the inking errors made them look pretty neat still (will be making at some point another “Saint Picks You” listing option on my Etsy for the smaller B grade prints I make so you can choose between the trading card size prints and the 5x6”/4x6” size prints).

More Valentines Day Print Bundles Coming Soon!

Etsy shop will be updated sometime in the next few days with a new print bundle option of three prints. All prints are on pink cardstock, majority printed in black ink (one two color print with a bit of red). Reprints of two prior Saint prints but a new first edition Saint print in each bundle. Each Saint print has something to do with the theme of Valentine’s Day (surprisingly the prints are not of Saint Valentine but at some point he will be added to my linocut print collection 😊). You’ll probably be able to figure out who the prints feature if you scroll through my other Instagram posts, comment below who you think the prints are of!

Four print bundles will be available in the shop, are approximately 4”x6” but may be a little larger than that depending on how much cardstock I leave around the boarders after cutting them.

Will be $30 per bundle ($22.50 for the first edition print, repeat prints discounted and normally are $7.50 each for non-first edition prints)

Due to handmade nature of the prints, each print bundle will be slightly different from one another but all of the same three prints.

Mini Art Recap: January 2026
Lots of sketching, I really liked how the chapel sketch turned out from the @inktober prompt for “cozy” and how saturated and fun the sketches I made with acrylic paint makers were this past month (paint marker sketch in this post pretty much got cut off though, the chapel sketch was with pen and markers with a good portion of the markers from @getsketchbox)

Used actual linoleum instead of the speedycarve blocks I normally use for prints and got a three hearts print made from it, but once I’m done printing with the block and restain it that in of itself is an art piece

Back into knitting, only one finished project that is a really cute sweater for my niece that’s probably too big for her right now. I made up the cardigan pattern (and it worked?!?) cheated with crocheting parts of it (I do not like casting on so was able to jerry rig it with crocheting a foundation row and part of the sleeves, the color work patterns were from @pacificknitco ), was all made with yarn I already had from a sweater I made about two years ago for my nephew

Looking forward to February and the next set of adventures it may bring :)

Three Hearts Linocut Print is roughly 5x7” and Saint Raphael print is approximately 4x6”

Five bundles currently available. They are Linocut and block prints printed in red ink on pink cardstock. I wanted to have some fun with a Valentine’s Day theme for the printing so that influenced the colors for the prints. They’re mailed via snail mail (aka usps wirh stamps) so order soon if you want it in time for Valentine’s Day. Due to the handmade nature of the prints there is variation between each print and print bundle, examples of the different prints included in the carousel of photos in this post :)

Past week of sketches, had at least one sketch a day this past week! (Much better keeping up with it than the prior week!)

@inktober 52 prompts “Glide” and “Cozy” (first and last sketches respectively)
The cozy prompt is of the chapel I’d go to daily Mass in during college, the lighting and being there in the evenings when it was raining always was nice,would fit if the prompt had been “Nostalgia” too

A lot of this week’s sketches were made with @getsketchbox ‘s paint marker box from last year. I like how saturated the colors are and is nice to work with a limited palette ( have gotten the hang of them more than when first got the box which is a plus)

Valentines cards in progress!

These specific ones aren’t for sale but I will be making a print version available of them in the near future. Used a mounted linoleum block for it (it’s harder to carve then the speedy carve blocks from speedball art I normally use, they also have to be sanded before printing so that it inks better for prints, it looked really neat with the India ink stain for carving before sanding and a bit of its own art piece, I’ll probably restain it once I’m done making prints with it)

My Story

I have always loved art and it helped that my mom went to art school and worked as a graphic designer, she always encouraged me and my siblings to work "the other side of our brain" with art. From that example, art became my stress relief and I have accumulated many art hobbies over the years from sewing, crocheting, knitting, drawing, painting, and now linocut prints.

I started making linocut prints in 2024 to make cards for my sister before she went off to college. In September 2025 I went on a pilgrimage to Italy for the Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati Canonization and ever since being back from that trip I've been making a lot more art, particularly of the Saints, Blesseds, and other Holy People in the Catholic faith. What started as a day off hobby and stress relief has slowly transformed into something more and I'm excited to see where these creative pursuits and endeavors lead next.

Psalm 28 has a verse where it says "with my song I praise him" and for me "my song" is my art. I hope that when it finds you it helps bring you closer to God and deepens your relationship with Him.

Each of my linocut prints is uniquely handcrafted. They start by being hand drawn/sketched, hand carved, and than hand printed using my printing press and or printing baron. The more I talk to people about linocut prints, the more I realize it is an art form not many are familiar with. There is some misunderstanding around these "prints", they are not sent out to be printed at a shop (I am the "printer" haha) but I craft each and every print. The only items that are not-handmade are my items on Redbubble (sewfia.redbubble.com) but it is still of artwork that I have made and a way to experience my artwork at a more affordable price and in card, postcard, and or sticker form.

At some point I would like to add prayer card versions of my art too to my website. I have horrible handwriting though and for it to be the right size, future prayer cards will also be non-handmade versions of my artwork (aka not hand printed).

Majority of my prints pertain to my Catholic faith. I do have some floral and whimsical pieces too (my Irises print is my favorite floral piece I've made so far). Shipping & Delivery

Shipping times may vary due to my full time job but will be sent out as soon as possible and depending upon inventory.

All shipping is free within the United States :)

Currently I only ship within the United States. (I may be updating this policy to allow for orders from Australia, Cannada, and England, if you're from one of those countries and would like to purchase, please email me and we can discuss more)

Returns can occur within 14 days from delivery of item.
